Joining Barna WasteQ: I want to join Barna Waste’s collection service. How do I join? A: All you have to do is call 0818 287 010 and one of our staff will assist you through the simple set-up process, or sign up online. Q: How long will I have to wait to have a bin delivered? A: Delivery time on new household bins is normally within 5 working days. Q: What size of bins are available? A: For domestic customers we have three bin sizes available as follows: * 120ltr bin – Our smallest bin which has a capacity of 1.5 black bags of refuse. This is an ideal choice for 1/2 persons living on their own. For commercial customers: To avail of our full service and to cater to the needs of individual businesses, contact our office on 091 771619. Q: How many bins do I receive when I sign up? A: Barna Waste offers a three bin system in most areas we service - A black bin for landfill waste, blue bin for mixed recycling and a brown bin for food and garden waste. Q: What payment options are available to me once I sign up? A: Customers can pay by cheque, bank draft, money order, credit card, laser card, direct debit, bill pay and also online. Bin CollectionsQ: How often will my bin be collected? A: Your bin collections depend on what area you are in. We have two different collection systems, the first: your bins are collected on an alternate week basis. Landfill bin (black bin) one week and the recycling bin (blue bin) the following week. This continues throughout the year. The second system: We have developed a twin pack route where some of our customers will be able to leave both recycling and landfill bin out for collection on the same day. Both bins are collected every two weeks and this continues throughout the year. The body of the truck is split inside via a partition. Recyclable materials are placed in one side of the truck and landfill waste is placed in the opposite compartment. This ensures both waste streams remain separate for the entire process of collecting and segregating. Customers will be told which system they are on and must follow this unless otherwise notified by Barna Waste. Q: When should I leave my bin out for collection? A: Our fleet of trucks and collection staff start work very early in the morning in order to make landfill deadlines and therefore we ask all our customers to leave their bins out the night before collection day. Q: If my collection day falls on a Bank Holiday is my bin still collected that week? A: Yes, collection that falls on a Bank Holiday then that collection will take place on the Saturday prior to the Bank Holiday. This is with the exception of Christmas time when customers will be notified of the collection schedule changes in advance via a flyer on their bin. Q: For what reasons would your bin not be collected? A: Your bin may not have been emptied for one of the following reasons: - The payment sticker on display is out of date or missing (please note, some customers no longer receive payment stickers as the bins have a chip placed into it to allow us to read information such as: payments on the account, time and date of collections, etc.) - The bin/ bag may contain the incorrect contents (i.e. non-recyclable items in the recycling bin/ bag) - The bag may be too heavy (i.e. exceeds the 12kg weight limit for lifting) - It is the wrong week for your collection (i.e. it is either landfill week or recycling week) Bin ContentsQ: What recyclable materials are acceptable? A: • Plastic Bottles - all types (water, soft drinks etc.) Q: What items are not acceptable in your recycling bin? A: We ask our customers to be careful to ensure only clean/dry recyclables are placed in the recycling bin. The following items should not be put in the recycling bin: Q: Where do the contents of my landfill bin go? A: See the ‘How we Recycle’ section for more information.
